Indigenous African Livestock Foundation (IALF) is a private, not-for-profit non-governmental organisation started in 2016 and based in Uganda. IALF was borne out of an idea to cater for indigenous animal genetic resources (AnGR) on the African continent because they have been over time pushed to the periphery of livestock agricultural production in favor of exotic and highly 'productive' exotic AnGR. At IALF, we recognize that indigenous AnGR are key to sustainable livestock agricultural production, and must be looked at for the valuable resources having been on the continent longest and their adaptability. It is of is purpose that IALF's mission is to improve the livelihoods of the livestock dependent communities on the African continent through profitable preservation, conservation and sustainable utilization of indigenous Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR).
