Women in Technology Uganda (WITU) provides young women and girls from underserved communities with practical skills, tools, and work opportunities to become innovative technologists, leaders and entrepreneurs equally participating in and influencing African economies. The Career, leadership and Life Skills Program (CLSP) is a three (3) months training program that engages young women and girls from underserved communities that have dropped out of school and are not in any income generating activity. The young women are introduced to different vocational, business and life skills as well as digital skills and are supported to start an income generating activity and business plan after researching business opportunities within their communities. We offer attitude and behaviour change training to help the girls rise above the feeling of hopelessness and thinking they can never amount to anything because of their background and situation. This brings back hope and positivity, encourages dreaming and goal setting, making them receptive to the business, vocational skills and technology education we provide. We help young women build skills needed to be able to qualify for jobs as well as skills to identify, develop and run a successful business. We a business innovation and incubation hub that trains them to become entrepreneurs and offers business development, budgeting and financial training, as well as access to loans to grow and sustain their innovations and businesses. We also offer a digital jobs center which directly connects them. We believe that providing work as an immediate solution to economic disempowerment is a sure way to put power in the hands of young women and girls.
