Founded in 1990, registered under the Companies Act Cap 110 of the Laws of Uganda, PROFILE The Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (formerly The Uganda Institute of Bankers) was established in 1990 as the training and certification body for the banking and financial services industry in Uganda. Prior to its incorporation as an autonomous entity (1967 – 1989), it had the status of a Local Centre of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London (now London Institute of Banking & Finance). The objectives of the Institute are inter alia; the promotion, encouragement, protection and advancement of knowledge and education in the principles and practices of Banking, Science of Banking and Credit Institutions Operation and Financial Management and to regulate, prescribe and maintain high standards of banking ethics for the benefit of the members and the general public. The UIBFS renders her services by providing instruction, examination and certification in Professional, Executive and other Training Programs in the area of Banking and Finance The Vision of UIBFS is to be “A centre of Excellence in Financial Services Training”. Its Mission is “to promote professionalism within the financial services sector through the provision of market driven trainings, research and consultancy”. The UIBFS renders her services by providing instruction, examination and certification in the area of Banking and Finance. Broadly speaking, the Institute ‘s training programs cover four broad areas, namely; Professional Courses , Short & Executive Programs, Specialised Training and the Masters of Arts (Financial Services) under the auspices of Makerere University, the country ‘s main public university. The programs are currently conducted in Uganda and the broader East African region.
