The Summit Foundation (SUFO) was founded in August 2008 in Gulu, and incorporated in September 2012 in Kampala, Uganda; as a company limited by guarantee without share capital, with the legal name “Summit Foundation (SUFO) Ltd”. The organization is a nonprofit development entity working to address poverty and underdevelopment by increasing youth and women empowerment, participation and development in the rural areas of Uganda, with a strategic focus on north, central and eastern regions. The Organization continues a tradition of strategic programmatic and operational cooperation and facilitation of youth empowerment, participation and development efforts with a focus on three strategic program areas, and four crosscutting themes. The three key strategic areas are: enterprise development and trade promotion, democratic governance and leadership development, and social entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods programs. The crosscutting themes are: gender equality, climate change mitigation, and emergency responses.
