SISTASISTA AFRIKA is a call to young women to raise their voices in celebration of their achievements and the strength IN RE-DEFINING the 'female identity'​ of this generation of women in Africa specifically and the world Because their hasn’t been much opportunity for many young females to explore their own interpretations of the world they are influenced so strongly by, SISTASISTA offers platforms for inter-action, learning and empowerment that challenge young women to develop their own leadership potential and mentor each other as well. As a result, Peer Role models are molded and encouraged and form a strong force in influencing positively each other. Through the use of performing and visual arts, the Young women are encouraged to artistically create pieces and presentations that celebrate and challenge the negative socially suppressive status quo that controls women's advancement in their lives and to speak out and add their voices in facilitating social change in their communities. Sista Sista works around three main areas of exchange: Workshops That discuss deep set issues affecting young women's ability to express themselves adequately in decision making capacities Film Activism Documenting Young women's voices and sharing these in dialogues that involve other young people. This creates a wider sphere to share and educate. Events/ Platforms SISTASISTA AFRIKA is a yearly event the first of which will be held March 2009. The event pools together Young women from all over africa and eventually the world are offered a chance to work together in artistic expressions with Professional artists, and thes form part of the 'CELEBRATING WOMEN THROUGH ART'​ events and exhibitions. Dialogues and Discussions around the changing role that women play, that allow the young people (16-21 and above) years of age, to meet and share their insights with Policy makers from Government and Civil Organisations. Allows a space that exclusively gives safety and support to building confident young women leaders.
