The dairy farmers’ network is an organization that is registered under the companies Act No.1 of 2012 or as a business name under the Business names registration act cap 109.Cap.110. Has a membership of over 200 dairy farmers with 80 registered and development partners .The Network currently operates mainly in the districts of Mukono, Buikwe, Mpigi, Luweero, Kampala, Jinja, Mityana, Kyenjojo, Mbarara, Wakiso, Kayunga and rural communities near the capital city. The Network currently sources its funds through development partners and these include Bimeda, Semex and Coopers Ltd. It also gets finance from members through payment of membership fee. VISION: The Network shall be Bench mark for modern and improved dairy farming techniques in Uganda and beyond. MISSION: To promote a practical farmer oriented dairy farming network geared towards production of safe, quality assured products in a sustainable manner that under pins the future of dairy farming industry in Uganda. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the Network shall be to: • To develop a robust dairy farmers’ centred network aimed at enhancing information gathering and sharing. • To increase household income through building farmers’ capacity in developing sustainable and profitable dairy farming techniques. • To foster collaboration with key players in development of dairy farming in Uganda and beyond. • To create an integrated dairy value chain system which is in compliance with the National environmental policy. • To build a strong bargaining, market oriented farmers’ network with the capacity to explore local, regional and international market. • Bring improved dairy farming technologies, services and inputs closer to rural communities through establishing resource centres and demonstration farms • To encourage families, youth and women to start commercial dairy farming as a means of wealth creation. ACTIVITIES: Monthly study meetings, Trainings, Farm Visits, and Regional tours among others.
