The Civil Society Coalition on Universal Health Coverage Uganda is a newly established Not For Profit Organization currently under registration as a Company Limited by Guarantee under Section 36 of the Companies Act No. 1 of 2012 of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau. The idea of a Civil Society Coalition on Universal Health Coverage in Uganda was born out of the lead to the UN High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) on Universal Health Coverage, 23 September 2019 in New York under the theme of the HLM-UHC meeting -'Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healtheir World.' stressed the need to mobilize the highest political support in order for countries to deliver on UHC in a harmonized manner. Further, efforts of the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM) of UHC2030 to mobilize Civil Society Organizations for UHC/Health Systems Strengthening and particularly, the results of the CSEM's survey report on CSO engagement mechanisms in UHC2030 greatly shaped the idea for a Civil Society Coalition on UHC in Uganda. As such, the organization shall be guided by the vision, principles and core functions of the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism in order to achieve UHC2030 and mainly;- - To strengthen an inclusive and broad UHC/HSS movement at national and sub-national levels, - To influence policy design and implementation of UHC/HSS at national and sub-national levels - To strengthen citizen led and social accountability mechanisms - To ensure greater coordination and harmonization between CSO platforms and networks working on health-related issues. The Civil Society Coalition on UHC Uganda fully subscribes to the UHC2030's Global Compact's principles that will guide our actions.
