Our incredible staff of Ugandan teachers is committed to training and supporting their colleagues to ensure all children leave the early years of their education with the reading and writing skills needed to engage in expansive learning. We are a small organisation with a big vision. We are currently working with about 50 primary schools in northern Uganda to lift the standards of reading and writing instruction in schools. READ for Life has developed a phonics reading curriculum designed specifically for the locality of Uganda and has been mentoring local teachers for the past four years. We teach teachers; observe lessons and give feedback; advocate for an improved curriculum; teach in the two local teacher's colleges where we are designing our own early reading/writing syllabus; and are working on our own phonics readers for Uganda.
