FSD Uganda (FSDU) is an independent, not for profit company, which supports innovation, conducts research and helps improve policy and regulation in Uganda. We seek to promote a deeper, broader and more inclusive financial sector in Uganda. We work with financial service providers, mobile network operators and other financial sector actors to develop financial products, services and channels to enhance access to finance. FSD Uganda uses the ‘making markets work for the poor’ (M4P) development approach. We develop markets systems that benefit poor rural and urban people and micro, small and medium sized enterprises, offering them the capabilities and opportunities to enhance their lives through reduced vulnerability to shocks, increased incomes and employment creation. FSD Uganda is funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) UKaid and is part of a network in sub-Sharan Africa of Financial Sector Deepening organisations.
